Brief Profile:   The Centre aims to provide a ready source of detailed and accurate information about the social, cultural, familial and religious dimensions of the South Asian presence in Britain, as well as in the transnational networks which its members maintain. With this in mind the Centre aims to to promote and facilitate: Exploratory empirical research into on-going social, cultural and religious developments within Britain's Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi minorities, as well as of the transjurisdictional networks of they are a local manifestation Contacts between scholars actively engaged in ethnographic research amongst members of these communities The construction of a comprehensive and reliable data-base focusing on qualitative developments within the many communities of which the still rapidly expanding South Asian presence in Britain is composed (this material can be found under the papers tab above) A more informed level of further public debate about the multitude of challenges to
