Thandi is currently Head of Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting at Coventry University and has teaching interests in the areas of development Economics and international Political economy. He has published widely in the area of Punjabi and Sikh migration and Diaspora issues in the UK, especially on financial dimensions of diaspora-homeland relations. He is the founder Editor of the Journal of Punjab Studies and has co-edited two books : Punjabi Identity in a Global Context [ed. with Pritam Singh) (New Delhi : Oxford University Press, 1999) and People on the Move : Punjabi Colonial and Post Colonial Migration [co-edited with lan Talbot] (Karachi : Oxford University Press, 2004). He is currently working on a book entitled The Sikh Diaspora : From Struggles to Celebration.
