Abstract

This work being prepared is to be about Kurdish musician Nizamettin Ariç’s career, diasporic reflection of his remark and his musical changes at the times he has been witness. Nizamettin Ariç’s remark in one sense is a musical mirror of the years he lived both in Turkey and Germany.

Nizamettin Ariç was born in Ağrı in 1956 with a “diaspora” legacy of his ancestors moved from Yerevan (Armenia) to Van and then Ağrı. During his childhood in Ağrı, Nizamettin Ariç has began to educate himself by listening Yerevan Radio Station which was accessible in Serhad Region and nearby, his brother Cemal Ariç and Kurdish Music Custom performers Dengbejs.

Because of singing a Kurdish song as a favor to his fellow citizens as well as the other songs in year 1979. Due to this Kurdish performance, he was found guilty regarding to TCK (Turkish Punishment Law) 141/1 and 142/1 paragraphs -which changed to Anti-Terror Law at 31 March 1991- and received imprisonment for five to fifteen years. Ariç’s trial was too hard, all his works ended and his life circle was tightened day by day. Ariç’s life was changed sharply and he did not accept the punishment given to himself. He decided to leave the country. İn year 1981 he first went to Syria then after Germany. Nizamettin Ariç, who told “As soon as education in the mother tongue begins, I will be back to the land where i was born without expecting for an invitation neither welcome” has been living in Germany for 43 years.
