Amar Burton

For her master’s dissertation, she conducted interviews with seven Afghan women from Hazara ethnicity living in London and used the notions of aspiration and hope to explore their attitudes towards the 'time ahead’. Her work shows that their attitudes towards the future are indicative of their multiple identities - as Afghan women, from the Hazara ethnic minority and as immigrants - but also of the transnational relational setting of their life. Sabah’s research critically analyses notions of community, ummah and the ontology of being Muslim. Sabah has worked as a consultant with International Transport Workers’ Federation, New Delhi. During her tenure she worked on a project dealing with violence among transport sector workers in South Asia. She was awarded M. Phil in 2016 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her M. Phil dissertation was a comparative study of social exclusion of Muslims in India and Britain. She earned her undergraduate degree from Delhi University, and post-graduation from JNU. She has been associated with universities in London for her research and presented papers internationally at London School of Economics, University of Roehampton, etc

Erere Oghoghome

Brief Profile:   Erere Oghoghome is a qualified lawyer, currently undertaking a master’s program in peace and conflict studies with research focus on migration and household economic development at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She has experience advocating for the protection of girls’ rights and has worked to mobilize community action for the protection of adolescent girls. She is one of the 25 young female leaders to pioneer the March Women’s Shadowing Scheme 2020 by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and UN Women Nigeria. She is also a Young African Leaders Initiative Fellow. Erere’s interests lie in migration management and policy, gender equality and international development.

Agata Wanat

Brief Profile:   Agata Wanat holds a BA degree in Ethnology Cultural Anthropology from the University of Warsaw. Currently, she is pursuing an MA in Transnational Migrations (Erasmus Mundus MITRA programme). She has completed antropological fieldwork in West Africa, focused on migration of young Gambians to Europe and its impact on family and gender relations in the town of Bakau. Her current research interests circle around European integration policies - especially the accessibility and quality of education available for children of migrant backgroud. She has volunteered in several NGOs supporting children and youth of migrant background.
