Mapping Nations, Locating Citizens: An International Conference on on Nationalism and Identity
Humber College’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences of Toronto, Canada in association with the International Festival of Authors (IFOA) will be presenting its second annual interdisciplinary conference entitled “Mapping Nations, Locating Citizens” to be held October 30-31. The International Festival of Authors (IFOA), one of the most celebrated literary festivals in the world, is located at the Harbourfront Centre, one of downtown Toronto’s major cultural and artistic venues
The conference aims to facilitate cross-disciplinary discussion among scholars and researchers who study the topics of nationalism and identity. Some emergent themes to be explored include, but are not limited to: performing citizenship, emerging nationhood, subaltern studies, statelessness, diaspora studies, racism and nationalism, post-nationalism, memory and nation-building, neo-medieval, religo-ethno-nationalism, cosmopolitanism, exploding mythologies, consumerism, sexuality and citizenship, and disability/identity.
