Spheres of Interest and Representations of the Migrant: Are Rights Insignificant?

Informing and deliberating on the migrant person in the formal (state and academia) and various sections of the informal (popular, journalistic, fictional ) spheres seem to defend a specific folk tale rendering on  persons' lives. This talk tries to develop a discussion of how these two spheres are complimenting each other, based on field experiences with migrant workers in Kerala. Migrant experiences in the Gulf region is focused here, referring to contemporary discussions on denials of workers rights.
