Brief Profile:   Virinder S Kalra is a senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Manchester. His current research interests are looking at popular culture and religion in shrines of Punjab, which is reflected in his forthcoming book: Sacred and Secular Musics: A Postcolonial Approach (Continuum). His previous research has focused mainly on the South Asian diaspora and he is the co-editor of the book: A Postcolonial People: South Asians in Britain, and co-author of the book: Diaspora and Hybridity.
