Brief Profile: Sabah Khan is pursuing her PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The title of her thesis is ‘Identity and Transnationalism: A Study of South Asian Muslim Diaspora in Britain’. Her research delves deeper into the debate on religion and diaspora by engaging with the concept of de-territorialised diaspora in reference to Muslim diaspora. Sabah’s research critically analyses notions of community, ummah and the ontology of being Muslim.
Sabah has worked as a consultant with International Transport Workers’ Federation, New Delhi. During her tenure she worked on a project dealing with violence among transport sector workers in South Asia. She was awarded M. Phil in 2016 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her M. Phil dissertation was a comparative study of social exclusion of Muslims in India and Britain. She earned her undergraduate degree from Delhi University, and post-graduation from JNU. She has been associated with universities in London for her research and presented papers internationally at London School of Economics, University of Roehampton, etc
