Abstract
There is an unprecedented movement of refugees worldwide. The crisis in the Middle East is one such example which illustrates the large-scale migration of civilians from conflict zones to pasture lands. This global migration has given rise to numerous problems, among them one which is of grave importance and often ignored in the broader political context is Education. The refugees come from a world which is destroyed and ravaged beyond comprehension, and such refugees are generally in an extremely disturbed state of mind. The refugees escape from such inhuman conditions of mindless wars and move to places with the hope of a better and peaceful life. A majority of such refugees is composed of young children and the youth. These children not only lose their homes, but are vulnerable to losing a chance at life. Education is perhaps one of the most important and critical aspects, capable of carving a bright future for the person. Education provides a chance to progress in life and make a living. In such situations, the host nations have an obligation to ensure that the educational needs of such refugees must not be compromised. The host nation should ensure that the children continue with their education once they are rehabilitated. This creates an issue of supply and demand, particularly since these children of conflict have a different background and need special care and attention. This situation has given rise to the phenomenon called 'Urban refugee education'. This paper will look at the issue of education, conflict and children in such vulnerable positions from a human rights perspective. Furthermore, the paper will refer to the United Nations and their views on the same. The paper will also reflect on the needs of such diaspora and the possible solutions that can be implemented to ensure that education of such children is not hampered and interrupted
