Abstract

The focus of the paper is on Indian guest-workers in Germany in IT, finance and banking sectors. The aim thrust is to estimate their experiences of socio-cultural exclusion and inclusion in the host society. These 'elite migrants' are the newest entrant in the ethnic diaspora of Indians in Germany and are subject to multiple and peculiar socio-cultural experiences hitherto unknown to other profiles of Indian migrants in the foreign land. As society's new economic migrants, these guest-workers shape their own life-worlds while reproducing images and recreating ethnic spaces that have effects both on the natives and themselves as migrants. This paper adopts ethnography as a method of capturing narratives of the subjects and present their experiential journey in work and domestic spaces within the host society.
