Abstract

In this paper we are trying to study the why bereavement compensation need as a policy intervention. In the pandemics like Covid-19 which killed the millions of the people across the globe, we need to think about those migrant families which lost have their members. This pandemic has not just taken away the jobs of migrant workers but it has created huge burden on the family members after the loss of its earning members. There is an urgent need to make permanent arrangement for the bereaved family in case of mass disaster or pandemics. Till the date government hasn’t formulated any bereavement compensation rules which could deal with mass disaster. It’s only the Supreme Court intervention when government has agreed to provide compensation. But our argument is to deal with permanent solution for bereaved families. Last two years have witnessed a rise in the numbers of poor in the country. Poverty has compelled huge masses to bear an economic burden in crisis without any monetary assistance. In such circumstances bereavement compensation can give much relief to the bereaved families.
